Another weekend gone and we’re one step closer to moving our stuff upstairs. We spent yesterday and today priming and painting the upstairs. Most of it looks really good. In the process however, we found that we did a crappy job of putting some of the ceiling texture on. It looks like we’re going to have to go back and redo it =/. Aside from that, a lot of progress was made.

If we can get a hold of the materials this week, we’re planning on putting the new flooring in next weekend. Then, we’ll be able to move up there and start sleeping in the bedrooms. I’ve got a new found respect for people who work on houses. Since last Tuesday when we got the keys to the new place we’ve been working non-stop. Justin’s Dad and brother were in town helping us out and we got a lot done. I need to get some pictures up, but we managed to knock down part of a wall and put another up somewhere else, as well as get one of the rooms re-textured.

They left earlier today and I spent the rest of the day moving my stuff out of the old house. Denicia was a big help there . Now I just need to sleep…

So, I took a little vacation from my blog. If my blog was a plant, it’d be dead. I’ve been busy with work and other things, but that’s no excuse. I’m going to start watering it again hoping it will come back to life.

After getting approved for the loan and submitting the paperwork over a month ago, Justin’s Dad and Uncle closed on the condo we’re supposed to move into. The closing process was an absolute nightmare. The condo is a HUD home which I think was the main cause of problems. There were so many organizations involved, it took forever for people to talk to each other and get anything done. But it’s done now, and we’ve started work on the place. I’m sure I’ve mentioned it on here, but Justin and I are living in the place while it gets remodeled, then his Dad and Uncle are going to sell the place. I think it’d be cool to get some pictures up of the place now and document the remodeling as it takes place.

Our first task (which is blocking us from actually moving in) is to put down new flooring upstairs, in the bedrooms. Since we’re doing the floors, it makes sense to strip down and repaint the walls. And since we’re doing the walls, it makes sense to go ahead and scrape/retexture/paint the ceiling. We’re trying to move in this weekend, so we’ve got some work to do .

I’m probably going to start packing my stuff up within the next day or so (including my computer), but I’ll try to do some updates from my laptop.
