Long weekend, again

A 200lb desk, 2 couches, a bed, and countless boxes later, I am done moving. Not moving myself though, moving Denicia. Her and Alicia moved into a new apartment on Lamar a little south of 183. It’s a really nice place. Very quiet. Her parents came in town to help her out, and I was naturally recruited to help because of my truck. It really wasn’t a bad move at all though. It also helped that her parents kept me very well fed the entire weekend.

Turns out that we may end up moving out of our house as well. Justin is about to move back from New Mexico and doesn’t have a place to live. We told him he’s more than welcome to move into our living room but that might not be the best place for him though smile. We’re entertaining the idea of moving out and into a new 5 bedroom house. We’ve only got a couple weeks to decide, but Kam and I looked online today and found some pretty decent places around town, particularly up North. Now that I’m out of school I really don’t mind moving a ways up 35 or 183 like I did when we picked out this place. The farther away from campus you get the nicer and cheaper the houses. More than likely though we’ll end up staying put. It’s not going to be very easy to find another at least this big for $300/person.

Ok, now its time to relax, goodnight smile

Camping

What a fun weekend. We went camping out at Pace Bend Park for me and Bowers’ birthday. It started raining pretty hard when we first got there but cleared up pretty quick. I don’t feel like writing much so here’s a quick summary of the trip.

Fun things:
-BBQing (in the rain part of the time)
-Building campfires
-Beer (mmmm, beer)
-Taking the dog and watching her experience the outdoors for the first time
-Late night swimming in the lake (naked!)
Tearing down trees for firewood with just a pocketknife

Things I could have done without:
-Breaking that thorn off in my foot
-Picking up the wrong end of a stick that had just been in the fire
-Setting our tent up in the sun, then waking up the next morning inside what felt like an oven

It was a blast. I definitely want to go again most likely when Justin gets back from New Mexico. I got some cool stuff for my B-Day too. Denicia bought me a tent for the trip as well as a huge machete, Kam and Amanda bought me a hat/wallet (very cool), and Bowers/Alise bought be a beard trimmer (which I have yet to receive, but they swear exists smile). Thanks guys!

Anyways, it’s way past my bedtime. I leave you with another picture of the puppy, now officially named Nilla, with Nici:

Puppy!

Alise just got Brent a Beagle puppy for his birthday! We just drove out to Lexington to pick it up:

Alise heard about the breeder from our friend Matt who had just bought a puppy from her two days ago. Now the brother and sister are only a couple miles. Matt brought him over tonight for a little reunion:

Fiesta Texas!

Today was Kam’s girlfriend Amanda’s birthday so we went to Fiesta Texas for her. We only rode 4 rides (the best 4) but it was a fun time. The only thing that really bugged me was how much everything cost! Maybe it’s always been that way and I never noticed (thanks to my Mom and Dad), but really, $9 for a crappy burger combo that doesn’t even include a drink?! They probably had 5 water fountains in the entire place too in an attempt to get you to buy the overpriced drinks. It took 5 minutes of following signs around just to find one. Enough complaining though, it was a good time. I had forgotten how much of a headache you can get from wooden roller coasters…

Yarrrrrr

My birthday is right around the corner (which shouldn’t be news to anyone!!!) and for that @hand gave me a gift certificate to Alamo Drafthouse. Denicia and I decided to use it tonight and go see Pirates of the Caribbean with Alise and Bowers. I’ve seen the first one and I liked it. I don’t remember what exactly it was that I liked about it, just that I did. There was also a lot of hype about the second one so I was excited to see it. This series has some sort of cult following similar to Star Wars because there was a big group of goth looking people dressed as pirates. A funny sight. Anyways, I give the movie an overall grade of B, above average, but not excellent. It was action packed with funny one liners strewn all over the place. But as Bowers said to me afterwards, they could have taken a 1/3rd of the movie out and still gotten the story across. It was really just too long. Don’t see it in theaters, wait until it comes out on DVD.

Like I said, my birthday is almost here, you better not forget! I leave you with an old pirate joke:

quote:

After many years at sea, a pirate decided to retire. Since he had suffered injuries on the job, he thought tha t he should collect on his worker’s compensation insurance. He had a wooden leg, a hook where his right hand should be and a patch over his right eye.

The agent assured him that he would be compensated if the injuries were work related. “How did you get the wooden leg?” asked the agent.

In a booming voice the pirate replied, “Me and me mates were on the high seas when the boom swang ‘round and knocked me into the sea where a shark bit off me leg.”

The agent replied, “That is certainly work related. How did you lose your hand?”

“Well, me and me mates were on the high seas when the boom swang ‘round and knocked me into the sea where a shark bit off me hand,” said the pirate.

“That’s also work related. Now how did you lose your eye?” asked the agent.

The pirate replied, “Well matey, I was laying on the deck one balmy day catching some rays when this seagull flew by and dropped his duty right in me eye!”

“What does that have to do with the loss of your eye?” said the agent.

“Well, y’see,” he replied, “It were the first day with me hook!”
