Good News

Maggie is back :)

Oh the weather outside is frightful…

It’s flippin’ cold outside! 26 degrees to be precise! Winter has arrived, and it’s come with a vengeance. All classes after 2PM today were cancelled and the University is closed until tomorrow at 10AM. Too bad my test tomorrow is at 12:30PM, so it’s still on.

Texas is going to the Rose Bowl, but I have yet to hear anything from the University about my tickets. Justin tried to buy some tickets through TicketMaster on Tuesday as a backup measure, but they were instantly sold out (maybe they never even had any to start with?). We’re supposed to hear about our tickets by December 12th at the latest, after that I’m going to start getting worried.

I received the following e-mail a couple days ago:

I consider this spyware and will not install it.

I just thought this was funny. He’s talking about myDesktop Online and makes it sound like I’m trying to force him to install the program. Maybe I should turn the program into spyware, and make it send me a copy of every user’s desktop. Now THAT would be cool. I’m kidding though, really. That would be evil.

Last week of school coming up

It’s Sunday night, where the heck did the weekend go? Well, I drove to Houston Friday night for Lauren’s birthday. The day couldn’t have gone better as Lauren loved her presents and stuffed herself with cake while Texas killed Colorado 70-3 in the Big 12 Championship. I’ll see if I can get my hands some pictures of her birthday party. The rest of the weekend consisted of the typical boozing it up and then studying all night after I finally got moving today. I’ve got a hellish week ahead of me starting with a test tomorrow, so I had better get some sleep.

Football + 3 yr olds = My Weekend

It feels like the walls are closing in around me. Next week is the last week of this semester, I should be happy right? Not really. I’ve got at least a test, paper, homework, or program due in every class, with most classes having two or more of those listed. I’m also responsible getting some real-life-work done by next Tuesday at the latest. Ugggggggggggh. If I manage to complete all these tasks with satisfactory quality, it’ll be a miracle. I might suggest avoiding me for the next 10 days or so.

On a lighter note, I’m heading to Houston tomorrow for my niece Lauren’s 3rd birthday. The party is on Saturday, the same day the Longhorns are playing, so we’re going to have a nice mix of Big 12 Championship football and Care Bears.

I’ve also hit some milestones here on the website this past week including the 10,000th hit and the 4000th download of myDesktop Online. This coincides with the recent v1.2 release of myDesktop Online which always generates a big spike in traffic. I also had a French magazine editor contact me this past week for permission to include the program on a the cover CD of their magazine. I think this is pretty cool, maybe I’ll be able to snag a copy of the magazine =D.

Around a third of the people downloading the program are from outside the US, and coupled with the fact that the program is going to get mass-distributed in France, I may have to bite the bullet and include support for language localization. This is something I have absolutely no experience with, so it should be an interesting project.

It’s getting late so I’m going to hit the sack. Have a nice weekend, and GO HORNS!!!!
