Lost Dog

It was windy really in Austin today, so windy that it blew our gate open and Maggie got out. She’s not the type to run off and never come back though. Last time we accidentally left the gate open, we found her sitting on the front porch waiting to be let back in.
Keep an eye out for a white and brown pitbull!

myDesktop Online v1.2

Version 1.2 of myDesktop Online has just been released. This version brings about some good changes requested by users.

Changelog:
* - Updated FTP library (now using version 1.2.2)
* - Reworked config interface (it was too crowded for a single panel)
* - Modified upload behavior. Captures are now uploaded with a .tmp extension
appended, and then the extension is removed once the upload is complete.
This fixes the problem of users trying to view the current desktop while an
upload is in progress and therefore only seeing part of the image.
* - Added ability to crop and scale down desktop captures
* - Added option to disable tray animation
* - Changed minimum refresh rate to 0 (effectively continuous capture)
* - Desktop capture image is now stored locally in the same folder as the
executable

Gobble Gobble

The Texas/A&M game just hit halftime and Texas is only up 21-15. I’m not worried though, yet. I have a feeling that Texas is going to come out and steamroll A&M the second half. I’m kind of counting on it as a matter of fact, now that we’ve booked our entire Rose Bowl trip.

I’m sitting in Austin right now, back a little early from Thanksgiving vacation at home. I had originally planned to stay in Dallas until Sunday, but things were a little hectic at the house. I posted a while back about my mom being stressed out with the new house stuff and now I completely understand why. When I was there on Wednesday, I spent most of the day just trying to keep out of everyone else’s way. Both of my parents were home all day, but I barely saw either of them. It was really busy to say the least. I have some work-work I need to get to as well, so I decided to just head on back to Austin after Thanksgiving at my Grandma’s house in Waco. We’re going to be doing Christmas at my sister’s house in Houston this year, hopefully it will be a little quieter around there.

Before I left my Grandma’s I got loaded up with Thanksgiving leftovers, so I do believe it’s time for Thanksgiving Round 2!

It was a blustery day

And so it begins. The mornings where I can’t get out of bed because my room is so cold. The mornings where I spend half an hour in the shower because the walk from the shower to my room is even colder than my cold room. It’s 41 degrees outside now and I’m freezing my ass off because my room is all by itself over the garage and isn’t connected to the central air.

Speaking of the cold, I need to get rid of the palm trees in the background and get a winter theme going here on the site. Maybe I’ll do that this weekend.

Thanksgiving break is right around the corner, and it couldn’t come soon enough. We’re doing it at my Grandma’s house in West, TX per the usual. It’ll be good to see the family, it’s been a while. Speaking of which, I talked to my mom on the phone today and she was all frazzled out. They just finished moving into the new house and things have been really hectic. The house isn’t 100% complete yet so there are workers in and out of the house all day. I’m sure they’re looking forward to Thanksgiving break as much as I am.

Why do mice have small balls?

Because not many of them know how to dance.

Sunday night

When I was a kid, every year before school started my parents would let my sister’s and I pick out some new clothes for the school year. My sister’s would go with either my mom or with their friends; they loved to shop. I, on the other hand, hated it. I hated the mall. Even worse, my dad was responsible for taking me on this annual outing and I always got the feeling he hated the mall more than I did. We would usually be in and out of the mall in less than 30 minutes (which felt like an eternity), and I’d be fully stocked for a year.

What reminded me of this was that I went to the Arboretum today with Denicia to go find some new clothes, and on the way out there I got the same feeling of dread I used to get when I was young. Imagine how you felt when you were a kid, your parents were taking you to the doctor’s office, and you knew the main reason you were going was to get a bunch of shots. Thankfully, it wasn’t like when I was a kid. I guess I’ve grown up some since then. I picked up a couple nice shirts, a sweater, and a couple pairs of pants. Old Navy was also selling dog antlers up at the cash registers so naturally I picked a pair up for Maggie. At the end of the day, after all that shopping, I felt like I needed to reward myself so I went and bought a new TV. It wasn’t a completely self-indulgent purchase however, my old TV was messed up and stopped receiving some of my favorite channels and I just couldn’t take it anymore. I bought the TV at Best Buy so I have 30 days to return it, and I probably will. Until then however, I’ll pretend I’m rich with my big ass TV.
